Many Findings

Today, I feel refreshed. Me and my friend Erin (over at WriteDreamRunSing)  have made sort of a mission to give up some of our daily connections with the World. For me, that meant less time on Facebook and more time on God. And today I found many great findings from the Bible and devotional books and I'm so excited to share with you all. I love it when you open your ears and actually hear what God has to say to you. Another plus is that i have suceeded in limiting my facebook time and was on it for a total of 5 minutes today and that was just to check to see if I had any important messages and to submit this blog post to inform you all of what I'm going to be doing. Therefore, if any of my facebook friends are reading this, I'll give you a heads up that this week I probably won't be on facebook a lot. If you need to reach me or want to hang out, than thats fine to message me because I will check my messages once a day. But I'm trying to limit the time I spend on there because it also clears out a whole lot of junk i feed my brain when i go on there. It also limits uneccesary drama. As well as this, it puts my life into better focus on God than on people. And ironically, one of my devotions was about setting apart quiet time for God. Because you don't have to be with friends 24/7. You don't have to talk to them every second of your life and they aren't the most important part of your life. God wants us to want to talk to Him. This is a quote from my devotional book;

"The greater the proportion of your day- of your life - spent hidden in quiet, in reflection, in prayer, [in study], in scheduling, in preparation, the greater will be the effectiveness, the impact, the power of the part of your life that shows."

" Away from the world and hidden from public view, I exchange...

                   my weariness for His strength,
                   my weakness for His power,
                   my darkness for His light,
                   my problems for His solutions,
                   my burdens for His freedom,
                   my frustrations for His peace,
                   my turmoil for His calm,
                   my hope for His promises,
                   my afflictions for His balm of comfort,
                   my questions for His answers,
                   my confusion for His knowledge,
                   my doubt for His assurance,
                   my nothingness for His everythingness,
                   the temporal for the eternal, and
                   the impossible for the possible. "

As well as this, I also found a very impactful verse;

"The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."

He won't let you down. People will. Remember that.

Things I've been enjoying lately; God's Word,  Waiting for the Future, Waiting for the right guy(Yes this is right. I am enjoying waiting. Because I know it'll be worth it and that makes me that much more excited about it) letters( I wish more people would write letters nowadays), Cameras, Cute food creations( I'd love to make someone a PB and J with a cute face on it!) and music. I listened to Jeff Buckley's piano version of Hallelujah while I was reading my Bible today and something about it was just so strikingly pretty and calming.

Things I did today; 1. Skim boarded at the beach! I actually skimmed this time. I didn't fall off the board after two seconds and I only wiped out once! 2. Went through old things. (Always interesting and amusing and disturbing to find things from your younger self. Sometimes it's like reading something written from a different person!) 3. Cleaned out the car Van. 4. Did some doodlings and writing. 5. Dug deep into His Word and the hope He has promised us.

Tomorow's Adventures; I am staying in Orlando for tomorow and some of Friday. Me , my sisters, and my Mom are all going. We're going to see the American Idol concert and then staying a hotel there overnight(which has a pool!). It's the first girls trip we've done so it should be fun! Plus, i'm pysched to see phil phillips and colton dixon who are two very awesome singers. However, since I'll be gone most of thursday and some of friday, I most likely won't be blogging. So this is partly why this blog is so jam packed. I'll wrap it up here though with some parting songs that I thought I'd share:

So as you can see, I'm enjoying and loving life. And wanting to share it's excitement and beauty more than ever.

  1. I really enjoyed reading this post, Sophie. The first verse you shared was really encouraging to me because I feel as though God is showing me that even when people may fail me, He will not; and that when I feel as though I've lost some of my best childhood friends, my God will never leave me. God is teaching me that He can be my best friend. :) At the beginning of this week, I too took a small break from Facebook. I think it's cool that you are taking a break too. Sometimes it's just good to take a step back from all of the technology and take time study God's word more and just live life and take time to be creative instead comparing yourself to others creativity online. You know what I mean?

    Thank you for your encouragement and for the comment you left on my blog! You made me so happy when I saw that someone had finally commented on my post and your words were so kind.

    Blessings!
