Complacent Skin

Sitting on the back deck basking in the sun,
Pretending as always that nothing is ever wrong.
Not realizing that we're sitting there wasting in our sin,
Refusing to look at the innocent blood on our hands.

Human nature has struck again...
Lord, help me shed my complacent skin.

Save us, O Lord our God,
Gather us from the nations.
I've been asleep to the crimes I've done,
O Lord, please help me be awakened.

We've become so fond of our ignorance,
Trying to excuse our follies and use Your forgiveness.
We don't change from the sins we've committed and done,
We don't take the time, we'd rather hide our face and run.

Human nature has struck again,
Lord, help shed my complacent skin.

Save us, O Lord our God,
Gather us from the nations.
I've been asleep to the crimes I've done,
O Lord, please help me be awakened.

Yes, the Lord can surely save us,
But we must change too.
And He will hear our cries,
He will see us through.
