A Fool's Lament

You crawled through the barbed wires in your own set of shoes.
Now you're filthy and crying because you've been bruised.
What did you think would happen to you?
What did you think would happen to you?

Now you're drinking the coffee laid out in the sun,
While feasting your eyes on the damage you've done.
Drink not with haste.
Tell me; how does bitter taste?

You've grown a nerve instead of a brain,
Pointing fingers at me for your drops of rain,
Well, now your accusations are washed down the drain,
Because I am the dragon that you'll never slay.

So shrug off your filth and look me in the eye,
Who was the one who commited the crime?
What did you think the mirror would reveal?
What did you think the mirror would find?

Keep mourning over the buckets you fill with waste,
Now tell me, dear, how does bitter taste?

So, I have a few things I want to say. 1. This piece of writing has to do with some one who complains about the trials they are going through in life, even though they are the ones creating it. But yet they tend to point fingers at others instead of owning up to their problems. 2. This is not based on any life event, certain person, etc. I was listening to Mumford and Sons and their lyrics and kinda angry style of writing and music inspired me so I grabbed a pen and paper and just wrote this. 3. I apologize because I feel like lately I've just been sharing writings with you and not my thoughts or more photography or what's been going on in life. The truth is, I'm feeling a bit stressed out at the moment with school and life and trying to write good blog posts. I haven't felt inspired or motivated as of late because I haven't had time to. I feel like I'm rushing it. I do have lots to say, just not enough time to write about it. So, I'm going to take another break this weekend. However, on Monday when I come back to you all, I will fill you in on all the things taking place in my life right now. I also don't have College that day so hopefully, it'll be a more filled and inspiring post. :) Life is good. I'm happy. I just need a weekend of fun and relaxation.

In the meantime,
keep being awesome,
listen to mumford and sons,
love each other,
leave a lucky penny on the street when you get a chance so someone can have a lucky day,
 be happy.

  2. I hope you get to have a fun and relaxing weekend. IN regards to your #3, you don't have to apologize to us about that at all. Your blog is YOURS and that's what's great about writing - it's an outlet for whatever you're feeling at that particular moment. I really enjoy your writing.

  5. No, no, no, Sophie. Your posts are always lovely. Even when you're stressed. (I hope that clears up soon. Stressing is NO FUN. AT ALL.)

And okay. That poem.... I was thinking the whole time I read this, "This sounds a lot like Mumford&Sons... is there a song I haven't heard??" So there, you're good. Don't stop with the poetry, it's brilliant. I can't write poetry to save my life! :)

  6. Never apologize! It's your blog, and you should share whatever comes to you. I love the lyrics. (And definitely think you should consider guitar lessons!)

Hope you can take the time to relax and de-stress over the weekend!
