Photographs

Hey June,
I know we don't know each other well, but I like you already.
I also liked May though, May was good.
This past week I had two photoshoots, got some beach time, drank some Vintage Cola from Heritage Village, watched the Muppets and the Swan Princess, goofed around with my sister, played Scat (An awesome card game ), worked at a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser, sipped some coffee, watched America's Next Top Model re-runs, bought a Peter Pan tank top, got new bed sheets, went to Church and Young Adult Bible Study, sang a duet with my sister, enjoyed the rain, hung out with my friend Nora ( we watched Brave ), made a French Toast Casserole, and that about sums up my last week in May and my beginning week of June.

Life is exciting. :)

Here's some photos from my second photoshoot taken in Botanical Gardens/ Heritage Village. I also have a photography page up. It's on facebook, so if you have a facebook, I would reallllly really appreciate it if you'd like my page and share it with your friends especially if you know of people looking for a photographer.
Here's the link; https://www.facebook.com/PhotographyPageOfSophies?fref=ts

The thing I love about photography is that it gets you to change perspectives and see things in a more beautiful way. It makes you imagine and create and appreciate beauty.
I finally got my contacts in, and I tell you what.
It's something else when you're outside and can actually see the definition of each grass blade, the crow flying way across the lake, the little turtle peeping it's head out of the water, and the cloud devastatingly white and outrageously fluffy.

It makes you stop a second and look a little longer.
Because you can.
You see so much and from a different set of eyes basically.
Things are happening around you that you never knew took place.
I mean, was his eyes always that bright, shocking, blue?
I never had noticed before.

And that's what photography does.
It makes you stop a second and look a little longer around you.
It makes you noticed things you didn't know before.
It makes you appreciate flaws, and appreciate perfection.
It changes the way you see things, and I love it.

It helps you develop from the negatives.

Another common thing about being able to see 20/20 and photography,
is that you didn't know how to look another way or change your view until you can see with 20/20 vision or you can see things differently in the Camera's Lens and photo frames.
You're ignorant and don't know how much better things can look,
until you get a different shot, perspective, or view.

Mickey Mouse

I found this video...

and suddenly I feel sad.

It's because of the old man who sang it, and taught it to me who always ate his breakfast when I ate lunch once every week at the Target lunch counter back when I was a little kid.

I feel sad because I never really realized what a gift he taught me.
I mean, that song is old.
It's from 1955 back during the Mickey Mouse Club days which I didn't even know existed.
I didn't know that though, when he sang it and taught it to me.
I didn't know where it was from or how old it was.

And I think of him and I think that I'm so glad he was able to share that with me.
Because many kids probably didn't know that and don't know that.
Yes, they may grow up with the Disney movies,
but they may never grow up with that song or any of those old tv shows and original mickey cartoons like he did.

And now because of him, I'm watching old mickey cartoons at midnight and the mickey mouse club,
and I'm thinking of him.
And although he might never know that I did that or that I'm writing about him,
and though he might not even still be alive,
I'm honored to have met him and I'm honored to be sharing his story.
And I wish somehow that he knew how much he impacted me,
but then again maybe he did.

And even though he might have been sad to think that kids of my age never would see those old cartoons and shows,
I did.

And I think that would have made him happy to know that.

I hope if he's alive, that he's happy and lived a good life.
And I hope he did have a good childhood and adulthood.
And I hope people appreciated him.

It's All Write By Me

Lately, writing and photography have been reoccurring life happenings of recent.
I have many passions which range from dance, art, poetry, song writing, guitar playing, photography, and writing in general.
With so many passions, and so little time, they seem to come in and out in phases.
Right now, it's writing and photography.

Writing is becoming the bones in my body right now that my photographs frame.

To honor my passions, I'm going to be sharing with you quotes and writings that have inspired me to write ferociously.
Tomorrow, I'm going to upload another recent photoshoot taken a few days ago.
You know, it is a crazy thing how writing and photography can go hand in hand.
A large portion of my photos on facebook have quotes in the description.
And stories are easily made or thought up just from one picture that makes you question the subjects in the photo and their lives and how they ended up together in that one striking photograph.

Anyways, quote time.

This Summer, I feel like I've all the sudden changed.
Like within me.
Maybe it's not visible to others, but I feel changed.
I feel old.
But not a bad change or bad old.
I just feel like this is a Summer where I'm awaken by the World around me.
Where I actually understand things better,
or have grasped a better perspective.

It's a Summer where I've learned a lot about who I want to be and where I want to go, and most importantly, the beauty of trusting God and following His Will and knowing and seeing that His way is the best way, always.

A lot of times in my life, I felt like I was sitting there waiting for something better to come a long.

Well, something better has come a long but I don't know if it's because life just got better or because I actually did something about it to make it better.

I think it's the second reasoning though.
I actually have made decisions and choices that ensured and ensued change.
I've also learned things about me, and about change itself, and about letting things go, and about not trying to fix everything and about where to focus your life upon or should I say Who to focus your life upon.

One more important change;
Hope.

I always knew that God gives Hope, that He IS Hope.
But sometimes I didn't always see it, and it was hard to believe it.
Because even though He could grant my prayers and hopes,
it didn't always mean He would.
But He has blessed me, with so much, and answered prayers,
and I am forever grateful and blessed.
And I have Hope for the Future.
Even if trials are up ahead,
I am hopeful.
Because His Hopes and Plans for my Future,
Are FAR Greater than Anything I Can Plan On My Own.
So, I just hope to keep my eyes on Him and make His plans my plans.

I know the journey is far from over.
But I feel like I have a better grasp on life and about trusting God and having the joy given to us from Him.
And I feel happy.

Real, Pure, Inexplicable, Happiness.

And I am ever so thankful, for He can only supply this joy I have.

Thunderstorms

The rainkissed leaves scatter about in the air, dancing around, as the sky makes sure it's voice is heard loud and clear and the clouds decide to color inside the lines and try a dark shade for once.

Oh, Florida Thunderstorms.

There's nothing like it when it's a comfy night where you're up late listening to good music(such as Gracious by Ben Howard) and writing for the mere fact that you were inspired to because of the rain making pitter patter sounds and the Thunder joining in with the chorus of the music you're playing.

You see, tonight is a night where once I'm done writing for the mere pleasure of writing, I will curl up with Harry Potter, and Matched ( Yes, I'm reading more than one book at a time, don't judge ) and my dog, and I will read until the night gets darker and beckons me to sleep. And I'll enjoy the sound of rain while I'm reading. Then I shall crawl into my new, spacious bedroom with the darker walls and listen to the sound of rain as it gently puts me to sleep. You see, nothing can beat a Florida Thunderstorm at night. It's peaceful, relaxing, and inspiring. Which is why I'm writing about it. I'm so sorry for those of you who do not get to enjoy the pleasantness and frequentness of Florida Summer Thunderstorms. Some complain of this due to the fact of their love for the Summer Sun and Beach. But honestly, I love everything in it's timing and right now I'm loving this Thunderstorm afternoon and night I'm experiencing.

I don't normally post on the weekends. Or at night. But tonight is a necessary exception.

Rain is;
sad,
beautiful,
terrifying,
exciting,
adventurous,
inspiring,
lovely,
wonderful smelling,
amusing,
perfect on nights like these.

"It was a rainy night, kind of like tonight, in which I grabbed my car keys and decided to spontaneously drive to the old, quaint, 24 hour coffee shop 20 minutes (give or take a few) from my house. Many would say that's a bit much to do in the middle of the night, but I thought, hey , life is unpredictable sometimes so I might as well be too. As I drove, the stoplights became blurry spots on the streets and they looked so magnificent. I never really had appreciated their bright colors until that night where their very existence basically screamed; "Look at me, Look at me. Am I beautiful now?" They certainly were. Beautiful, that is. I turned off my radio, which was rare for me considering the fact that I was almost always in the mood for some simple tunes. However, this night, I just wanted to be surrounded by the overwhelming sound of rain and thunder and be overwhelmingly aware of all that was happening around me. You see, we often forget to appreciate the beauty of the simplest things in life. We often forget to appreciate silence too. But that's a whole different story. Once I reached the coffee shop, I went in and said hello to the worker there. His name was John Bob, he was from Tennessee, and he knew me well. So well, that I didn't have to tell him my order. He already knew it by heart; my simple Latte with a splash of Hazelnut. After purchasing and receiving my steaming latte, I sat down at an empty booth and took out my journal and just wrote and wrote and wrote, sipping my coffee occasionally, when I had that distinct feeling that someone was staring at me. I looked up from my journal, which had several coffee stains on the pages as well as some smeared lines of poetry, and I knew. I knew my life would be different from that very day on. I was right, of course. I had no idea how different my life would be though. I had no idea that he was to be my true love, the one I did everything on earth with until I was old and grey and my smile was no longer full of dimples and bright white teeth. I had no idea. None, at all. Now, though, every thunderstorm that happens across my life brings me back to that night... that unforgettable, beautiful night..."

Who knows? It could happen.
