Roadtrip Series #3: The Finale

The last day started with waffles. Those really good kind that seem all fancy because they are made in a waffle iron and have designs on them. :) It's the best way to start off a day. And honestly, the rest of the day was spent driving home. And the drive home was pretty much the same as the drive up, only with one exception.

You see, sometimes, we have to leave behind our life, our home, and our routines ( even if it's for a weekend, or maybe a week, or maybe a few months) to appreciate once again the warmth of your home and bed, the normality and fun of catching up with your friends, the love and loyalty of your dog, and the beauty of the life that takes place around you in your hometown.
I truly believe that.
But that's what I like about trips so much.

Trips are a three part journey;

1. The Anticipation.

The part before your trip where you're packing and planning and so ready to escape the world and leave.

2. The Journey Itself.

The part where you've reached the destination and you have no worries, and you stray from routine, you live on spontaneity and you never once look at the clock because time doesn't matter. You just live.

3. The Return.

And the return is what I just described. You are happy and content with the breathe of life and adventure you experienced, but now you are ready to go home and you are grateful for your home and to get back to routines, friends, and life.

Trips are necessary and lovely, they truly are.
Make adventures happen, love.
Life's full of them really.
If you let it.
If you take chances.

I am exhausted

That is the result of a night of pie, talking, friends, princess and the frog, and coffee.

But it was worth it.

However, 3 am does tend to make it a bit harder to be awake during the day.

Which is why this is all I got for a post.

Ps. The other day, I did start a writing blog. It's not much, but it's still a baby; http://likeadrumitbeats.blogspot.com/

Sunburnt

I'm taking a brief break from continuing my Georgia series because tonight, I simply didn't want to write about it some more. And it's my blog, and there's no rush, so I'm not going to write out the rest of my adventures quite yet. Instead, I'm going to talk about sunburns.

Yes, my friends, Sunburns.
This may seem like a weird thing to talk about, but I'll explain why I'm talking about them.
First off, I hardly ever get sunburns.
I'm a good girl who puts on sunscreen.
However, when I was hiking up the mountain in the afternoon in Georgia, sunscreen totally slipped my mind.
My Mom didn't bring some with us, and she didn't put some on either, however, I got sunburnt and she didn't.
Not just the little bitty sunburn that makes you look rosy and sunkissed.
My shoulders were red, red, red. (Like think Taylor Swift Red. That's how red they were.)
Okay, so, it wasn't horrible.
I'm not trying to exaggerate. They were red, but they didn't hurt a whole lot.
And I kinda like sunburns.

Yes, that sounds weird.
And no, I don't like getting sunburns 24/7 and damaging skin.
However, I like the feeling of the lotion and the feeling and mark of having been out doing something adventurous, and having a story behind it.
Like, I'm not talking about a sunburn you got for laying out on the beach all day with no sunscreen.
I'm talking about hiking up a mountain in Georgia with your Mom and having her not get sunburned, and you having got sunburned even though you usually don't get sunburned.

It's a story.
It's a tattoo.
It's a landmark.

It's a souvenir of your journey.
And yes, it may fade in a few days, but the memory won't.

So, I like sunburns.
The story, tattoo, marking kinds.

Fragment

"We collected our sunburns as souvenirs, as the clouds danced over the ocean's pier."

Maybe I'll create a second blog for the simple lines that run through my head randomly throughout the days.

Georgia Roadtrip Diaries Entry #2

This day... well it was something.
The morning started off with us going to down to eat some breakfast.
I naughtily ate a chocolate muffin for breakfast, but then again, I was on a roadtrip.
You don't get to eat chocolate muffins for breakfast everyday.

Then, we all came back to our hotel room and my sister Grace and friend Katrina got ready for the wedding they were going to.
After that, we all journeyed down to where the wedding was being held and dropped them off.
Then me and my Mom went to Stone Mountain.
We hiked that 1.3 miles up the beautiful rocky mountain (That's technically a rock hill) and holy cow was it amazing.
You don't have to be a nature enthusiast to have appreciated the sight.
You could see everything from up there.
Not to mention the clouds were perfectly beautiful and present but not too cloudy.
You could see the city in a blue haze far out.
You were on top of the world.
I was on top of the world.

After a good amount of time spent there, we hiked back down(a far less vigorous trip and a lot more fun). Then we walked over to Stone Mountain park where we rode a Train around the mountain, saw some deer, and also witnessed the huge carving on the side of the mountain of Jefferson Davis, Robert E.Lee, and "Stonewall" Jackson. It was quite impressive.

Then the wedding had gotten over so a friend named Cameron drove my sister and Katrina over to the Park and we all enjoyed it together. We went to a butterfly garden and got to feed the butterflies. We ate some delicious pizza. And lastly, we grabbed some not-so-cheap- but- still -worth -it = milkshakes and watched a laser show in the evening which had these awesome projections on the side of the mountain that went a long with music. There was also an AMAZING fireworks display on the mountain that went off as the Star Spangled Banner played, as well as some patriotic and moving projections. I did my best to capture what I could but my phone was low on battery and not very quick. After that was over, we headed back to the hotel, getting in around midnight. Dead tired and sunburnt, I drifted swiftly to sleep.

I have plenty of pictures left to show,
but they are on my sd card from my camera,
and I haven't had time to upload them all yet.
So,
tomorrow,
I shall continue day 2 pictures.

I hope you enjoy life, guys.
I hope you do.

RoadTrip Georgia Diary Series #1

Hey Y'all. :)
I am back from my short(but seemingly long) roadtrip.
I have a lot to say, so I thought I might take it day by day.
There were three days, so I'm making this a three part series post.
I just got in as of last night, so I haven't gotten a chance to catch up on posts yet.
But I'll probably have time today.
Anyways.

Georgia.
I did get up at 5 am.
We picked up our friend Katrina,
Stopped at D and D's for some coffee(Toasted Almond Coffee for me),
and drove.
It was a roughly 10 hour trip.
As we drove, I mainly slept.
I do that easily.
But I also had some pleasant conversations, and had my hair done in a braid and ate Mexican muffins for breakfast and we snacked on some cheez-its for lunch.
However, I mostly enjoyed looking out the window at the beautiful grass and country, with the white clouds looking like cotton candy, the road dragging on and on, not a worry in the world, passing cute brick houses with porches and hammocks and nearby creeks, and the music playing about not being a day over fast cars and freedom, about ice cold cherry coke, about feeling wanted, about Georgia stars, about leaving worries behind, and about beating Summer and it was;
 perfect.

Because I love just sitting in a car with music on (usually country or traveling music) and roaming down unfamiliar territory that seems so welcoming and friendly.
That seems so full of adventure and stories.
And the music feeds your happy daydreaming soul.
You know?
'Cause in those moments where you have time to sit there and think and watch and exist and appreciate life, you also have the ability to daydream and it's so easy to imagine that your daydreams could come true when you're riding in that car through the country with good company, nothing really planned, and a heart full of adventure.

It was so easy to picture finding myself a good, well-raised, gentleman
and we end up living in the country(even if its for a short period of our life),
Riding horses with him in the day,
Watching the sunset on mountain tops,
Catching fireflies by night,
Learning how to make homemade pies,
Having our neighbors become our good friends,
Sipping coffee on the front porch in the early morning,
Taking our kids on hikes and fishing trips.
Yes, it's easy to picture myself living in the Country someday, with the guy God's picked out for me.

But you never know what road Life will take you.
But that's what makes it so interesting and beautiful.

There wasn't a lot of pictures taken that day,
But it was still very memorable and enjoyable.
I hope you enjoy long car rides and roadtrips and daydream.

Besides all this, when we reached our hotel it was about dinner time.
So, we went to Applebee's near by and feasted like Kings and Queens.
Then we came back and swam in the hotel's pool and hot tub and had loads of fun.
Because we were hyped up with anticipation.
Sometimes, anticipation is one of the best parts of a trip, don't you think?
After goofing off in the pool, we grabbed some coffee(it was free), and went up to our hotel room and after we all showered and were waterlogged but comfortable, we pulled up our blankets and laid back in our well cushioned beds and watched Pride and Prejudice because it was on tv and let's face it, it's an amazing movie.
Then we slowly drifted sleep.

I think hotels are always a fun experience too.
Don't you?
I love log cabins, don't get me wrong.
But I also like hotels because they're so comfortable and make me feel luxurious.
If that makes sense?
It may be only a two night stay and it may not have so many cool features,
but it's homey and comfortable and has good free breakfasts and I like it.
Lastly,
Keira Knightly is drop dead gorgeous and it isn't fair.

That's all,
For Day One.

A simple, but beautiful day heading to Georgia.

Georgia's On My Mind

5 A.M will be the start of my 3 day journey.

I'm all packed, I'm all ready.
Tomorrow, I'll get into a car with my sister, Mom and friend,
we'll stop by Dunkin Donuts for breakfast,
and the ROADTRIP will commence.

(Iloveroadtrips)

We'll drive, and drive, till we reach a Country Inn near Stone Mountain and we'll spend the afternoon/evening there.

We might eat at a nearby diner and get some good oldfashioned country food and hospitality. Who knows?

Maybe we'll go for an evening swim in the hotel.

The next day, we're going to spend the day in Stone Mountain hiking, watching the laser show, and maybe even taking a Train ride which would be awesome.

That's about all I know. I don't know what all we'll do or how it'll be,
but I do know I'm excited and it will be fun and feed my adventurous heart.
